My Mission

As a social researcher and consultant, I aim to bring enthusiasm, accessibility, and application to rigorous social science research. The first step to solving the world's toughest problems is gaining deep understanding and empathy, and social research is the best tool we have for doing so.

Hi, I'm Casey.

I’m an experienced Design Researcher and Social Research Consultant. In a nutshell, what that means is that I get very geeky about social science and how to study people's behaviors.

With over 6 years of professional research and consulting experience, I've worked with companies and non-profits, large and small, to help them better identify and understand their stakeholders and the contexts which drive and explain the problems they face each day. A sociologist by training, I apply rigorous social science research principles to everyday business problems because I believe that better research ultimately leads to better solutions.

I have two master’s degrees from Brandeis University in Sociology and Social Policy (from mastering out of their Joint PhD program – go ahead and ask about that if that piques your interest) during which I was interested in studying entrepreneurship & innovation, economic sociology, and culture and social theory.

As a PhD student in Boston, I had some cool opportunities to gain doctorate-level research training by some of the best minds in the world in these fields, including some pretty rad professors at Harvard Business School, MIT Sloan, BU Sociology, and Brandeis. And because I could never make up my mind on a niche research methodology, I collected research methods training like some collect US State quarters–I never felt I could have enough. This means that I have training and experience studying people using qualitative methods (think interviews, focus groups, ethnography, etc.), quantitative methods (surveys, big data, social network analysis, the kinds of things you’d need to know some math to use), and everything in-between (so mixed-methods things like journey mapping or coding observations, for example). Basically I can design and analyze any kind of social research project like it’s my job…because, well, it is.

Since grad school, I've continued taking on contract research and consulting roles in various industries including higher education, healthcare, insurance, and e-commerce, with organizations like Harvard University, Nexben, and eBay.

I created this website in hopes that people interested in some of the same things I am can learn a bit about me in case they’re interested in connecting. If that’s you, thank you for visiting, and I hope you find something interesting! Please feel free to check out my portfolio and CV, and reach out if you have any questions, comments, or inquiries. Even if it’s just for a Zoom coffee chat about something nerdy. Actually, especially that.

I look forward to hearing about you!

Best,
